5 festivals not to miss in Paris this Summer

As the sun comes out and Paris starts to warm up, it’s time to get out into the city’s parks and enjoy the music festivals that Paris has to offer. And spoilers: there are loads! Whether you’re into jazz, rock, electro or acoustic music, there’s something for everyone this June, July and August. Here is a list of five of the best.

We Love Green

This eco-conscious music festival takes place every year in Paris’s beautiful Bois de Vincennes, with around 50000 welly-clad revellers from France and beyond coming to enjoy the weekend. This year’s edition of We Love Green includes bands such as Tame Impala, Christine and the Queens, and Rex Orange County – it’s an indie/pop/rock lover’s paradise. Get your tickets quick as they’re nearly sold out!

Villette Sonique

For one weekend at the beginning of summer for the past 14 years, Paris’s Parc de la Villette has hosted the Villette Sonique, an electronic/ rock/ jazz/ experimental music festival. You’re sure to discover new artists here from across all sorts of genres, so head on over with a picnic for a 4 day extravaganza. The weekend also includes a Little Villette festival area, a family friendly zone with shows for all ages. And the best part is, it’s totally free!

Solidays

Every year, Solidays music festival invites 200,000 people to experience a weekend of concerts, exhibitions and activities, all in the name of standing in solidarity (as the name suggests) in the fight against aids. Funds from the weekend help charities fighting the battle against the illness, with artists playing for free or a reduced fee. Joining the line up this year are Macklemore, Angele, and Die Antwood, to name a few.

Lollapalooza Paris

One of the biggest electronic/ dance/ rock music festivals in the world returns to Paris this July. Taking place in the city’s most Easterly park, the Bois de Boulogne, this year’s edition sees Twenty One Pilots headlining the Saturday, with the Strokes closing the main stage on Sunday night. It’s sure to be a great weekend.

Rock en Seine

This August, some of the best known rock artists from around the world will descend on the peaceful Parc Saint Cloud for a weekend to remember. Rock en Seine music festival returns with a lineup that rock music fans will love, including The Cure, Major Lazer, Aphex Twin, Jorja Smith, and loads more.

These are just some of the open-air music festivals that Paris has to offer this summer.
