Best hot chocolates in Paris

It’s that time of the year, when the temperature drops and the need for hearty, warm drinks increases. One of the best hot drinks for this is hot chocolate. Paris is a great city to find some extremely rich and velvety hot chocolates that are perfect for a cold winters day. Here are some of our favourites places to get a hot chocolate.

Angelina

Angelina is probably home to the most famous hot chocolate in Paris and it becomes pretty obvious why, once you try it. The traditional hot chocolate ‘l’Africain’ is rich, gourmet and so thick that you need a spoon to drink it. Get yourself down to this belle-époque tea salon, just a stone’s throw from the Louvre on Rue de Rivoli, to taste one of the best hot chocolates you will find in the French capital.

    Jacques Genin

Jacques Genin is a master chocolatier who has been providing hotels and restaurants with chocolate and confectionery for years, before he opened up this modern tea room in Le Marais. The hot chocolate here has received rave reviews and is up there with the best the city has to offer. The hot chocolate is rich, chocolatey and thick. They don’t offer takeaway, so sit back in this stylish tea room and enjoy the tasty hot chocolate.

    Jean-Paul Hévin

Jean-Paul Hévin is already well-known as one of Paris’ best chocolate artisans. He has created a menu of hot chocolates for different times of the day, with some energising and others relaxing. Some of his creations include hot chocolate with oysters, iodized foam and jelly balls, as well as ones with banana, chilli or carrot. He does offer more traditional hot chocolates if you’re not feeling adventurous. They are all made using only the highest grade chocolate.
