Confinement Activities: Virtual Museum Tours

During this uncertain time the days can seem long and everyone is looking for ways to keep themselves occupied and entertained while we stay home to help fight the spread of the Covid-19 virus. But Lodgis is here to help! We’ve made a list of some of our favorite museums around the world that you can tour from your sofa!

1. Musée d’Orsay

The Musée d’Orsay is one of the most famous museums in Paris and specializes in art froom the years 1848 to 1914, and most notably, the impressionists. The building itself could be considered a work of art itself as it used to be the Orsay Railway Station and was built in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition. On this virtual tour you are able to follow the story of the museum itself, as well as see famous pieces such as: Eugène Boch by Vincent Van Gogh; In a Café by Edgar Degas; and Blue Water Lilies by Claude Monet. 2. Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) – New York City, United States

Founded in 1929, the Museum of Modern Art (or the MoMA) in Manhattan, New York City, has become one of the most famous museums in the United States and was the first Museum in the world to focus on the art of the modern era. Google Arts & Culture currently has an Online Exhibit for works from Sophie Taeuber-Arp as well as a large collection of Contemporary Art, Installation Art, Sculptures, and Modern Art such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night!

3. The National Gallery of Art – Washington, D.C., United States

The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. is the official national art museum of the United States and is dedicated to preserving, collecting, and fostering an understanding of art in the U.S.A. The Musée de l’Orangerie is both its own museum and part of the Musée d’Orsay!
