Day trips around Paris: Parc Astérix

Fancy a fun day out with the kids but can’t face the lines at Disneyland? Why not head on over to Parc Astérix instead? This popular theme park, which is based on the cult French comic stories, The Adventures of Asterix, is located just 35km north of Paris.

With zones and rides named after the great historical empires– the Romans, Greeks, Gauls, Vikings and Egyptians- Parc Asterix is a guaranteed family favourite.
Popular rides include : Goudrix, the record-holding rollercoaster with seven inversions ; the Tonnerre de Zeus, one of the longest wooden rollercoasters in the world and Transdémonium, an eerie ghost train that’s not for the faint-hearted.

Opening times: vary according to season. The park is open from March until November, and opening hours are usually 10:00-18:00. There are some extended hours during the summer months.
Getting there: RER B and Shuttle (via Roissy Charles de Gaulle)/Shuttle bus from Palais-Royal. Click here for more information.
