As the summer months come to a close, the temperature starts to drop and the Parisians return from their holidays.<\/strong> As this annual event occurs, the city seems reinvigorated by the natives and the exciting new exhibits, shows and films.<\/strong> So despite the end of summer feeling like a sad thing, there is actually plenty to look forward to in Autumn in Paris<\/strong>. Here are some of our top suggestions<\/strong>:

The Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibition \u2013 Mus\u00e9e du Louvre<\/h2>\n

The life of the famous Italian polymath, Leonardo Da Vinci<\/strong>, will be celebrated in the Hall Napol\u00e9on, in the Mus\u00e9e de Louvre this Autumn from 24 October to 24 February 2020<\/strong>. 2019 marks the 500 year anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci\u2019s death<\/strong> at Amboise, in the Loire Valley, where he spent his final three years. The Louvre holds almost a third of his paintings<\/strong>, as those he brought to Amboise were purchased by Fran\u00e7oise I after his death. This milestone allows the Louvre to present in addition to the 5 large paintings exhibited permanently<\/strong>, between 14 and 17 additional paintings (attributed to Da Vinci by specialists). The new exhibit will include a large selection of drawings, as well as a small group of paintings and sculptures from the Italian master\u2019s circle. With the largest collection of Da Vinci paintings in the world, make sure you visit this exhibition as it’s a must see!<\/strong>

La Nuit Blanche<\/h2>\n

This year the annual Nuit Blanche (White Night)<\/strong> will take place on the 5 October<\/strong> and it will be the 18th edition of the event in Paris. The idea behind the Nuit Blanche is always the same: to bring art out of the galleries and museums into the streets, to meet the Parisians.<\/strong> It is always a great time and a spectacular night! For this edition, the P\u00e9riph\u00e9rique is going to be opened up to the public<\/strong>, breaking the border between Paris and the banlieue (suburbs). From Porte de la Villette to Porte de Pantin, this motorway will be transformed into a luminous velodrome from 7pm to give anyone and everyone the chance to ride on this pedestrian highway, just for the night. Also at 7pm, Place de la Bastille will be offering a 4 hour parade<\/strong> with 15 fanfares, dancers, performers and artists. On top of this, there will be 2 night races<\/strong> around Paris from 10pm to 2am that will take you for a 9km loop around Paris while allowing you to see 10 of the best museums and monuments<\/strong> in the French capital, like the Grand Palais and the Mus\u00e9e de l’Homme. You will have to register to take part in this.

La F\u00eate des Vendanges de Montmartre<\/h2>\n

From the 9-13 October<\/strong>, the 18th arrondissement is enveloped by this festival. This year will be the 86th instalment of this renowned festival that has been running since 1934 which celebrates the wine from Clos Montmartre, the only vineyard remaining in Paris<\/strong>. It will involve 5 joyful days of celebration during which food and wine are given pride of place! This celebration is extremely popular and is the 3rd most attended event in Paris<\/strong> after Paris Plages and Nuit Blanche. Over 500,000 people are expected in the streets of Montmartre this year. The festival entails exhibitions, live shows, music, parades and tastings of local and artisan products<\/strong>, such as food and wine. So, there is something for everyone, young or old, tourist or Parisian. More than 40 bars and restaurants in the area take part in the event, as well. There are 20 free music festivals over 4 days and some of the other free events include: a catwalk in which the public are invited to wear their most eccentric and beautiful clothing and accessories, or the Grand D\u00e9fil\u00e9 (big parade) which is on the Saturday night and promises to be breathtaking, yet again.

F\u00eate du Beaujolais Nouveau<\/h2>\n

We are not sure if a more French tradition exists than this one.<\/strong> The F\u00eate du Beaujolais Nouveau celebrates the sale of a red wine called Beaujolais Nouveau<\/strong>. It is celebrated the 3rd Thursday of November each year, which falls on the 21st November<\/strong> this year. It is a \u2018vin primeur\u2019 (a young wine) which ideally has to be drunk within the first 15 days of the opening of the first bottles (for wine lovers). Despite it not actually being the best wine on the market, the festive side that surrounds the date of its arrival is contagious, so if you can, try to find a bottle and celebrate this extremely French occasion<\/strong>. The event is even celebrated around the world with 30 million bottles sold<\/strong>, with the main country buying it after France being Japan.

Le Festival d\u2019Automne \u00e0 Paris<\/h2>\n

Founded in 1972, this festival has celebrated contemporary art in all its forms<\/strong> every year since its inception: from visual arts to theatre, from music to cinema. The festival runs from September to December<\/strong> and will feature more than 50 events at venues throughout the city. The international programme<\/strong> of the Festival d\u2019Automne \u00e0 Paris has made it a major player in artistic creation in France and around the world. It collaborates and associates regularly with major international festivals and also with large cultural institutions. There is a great variety in what is shown, so try to check out some of the events if you can.<\/strong>
