Toulouse is a vibrant city on the Garonne in the south-west of France<\/strong>. Nicknamed \u2018La Ville Rose\u2019<\/strong> (the pink city) due to the distinctive clay bricks used for much of the city\u2019s architecture, Toulouse is a beautiful place to live for families, students and professionals<\/strong>. We are going to give some recommendations for where\u2019s best to live<\/strong> in this great French city for these groups of people, so that hopefully you can take some inspiration for when you\u2019re looking for somewhere to live for your time in Toulouse.

For Students<\/h2>\n

Rangueil-Sauzelong<\/h3>\n

Rangueil-Sauzelong<\/strong> is a residential area in south-east Toulouse where \u2018grandes \u00e9coles\u2019 and universities are located<\/strong>, as well as an important scientific complex. You can instantly see why this area is popular amongst students. People aged between 18-29 represent about a third of the population of this area<\/strong>, so it is a very young and dynamic district. The high quality of life in this area is partly down to Pech-David<\/strong> and its outdoor activity centre away from the city centre. Pech-David is a 280 hectare park<\/strong> that dominates the south of Toulouse and offers an unobstructed view of the Pyrenees<\/strong>.

Saint-Cyprien<\/h3>\n

The atmosphere of Saint-Cyprien<\/strong> is festive and cosmopolitan. Situated to the west of the Garonne, this area is very trendy with lots of nice restaurants and bars<\/strong> around. There is a young and upbeat ambiance here, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Le Mus\u00e9e des Abattoirs<\/strong> is dedicated to modern art and is one of the treasure\u2019s of the district. Also, la Prairie des Filtres<\/strong> is another major asset of the area. It is a vast, open green space<\/strong> that is great for picnics, walks and relaxing on a lovely summers day in Toulouse. Saint-Cyprien represents a really good place to stay for any students.

For Families<\/h2>\n

Les Carmes<\/h3>\n

Les Carmes<\/strong>, that surrounds the area around the Place des Carmes, is situated a stone\u2019s throw away from the historical city centre<\/strong>. It\u2019s a charming neighbourhood with its medieval style streets<\/strong> that represents a lively and popular spot to live. It\u2019s a district rich in unique architecture that also offers a multitude of nice shops, restaurants and bars<\/strong>, making it a trendy place to stay. This area is made for walking with its narrow, curved streets and beautiful building fa\u00e7ades. There a couple of good schools in the area<\/strong>, including a bilingual French-Occitan school. It is also home to one of the biggest markets in the city, called the March\u00e9 Couvert des Carmes<\/strong>, that sells some great food produce.

C\u00f4t\u00e9 Pav\u00e9e<\/h3>\n

The C\u00f4t\u00e9 Pav\u00e9e<\/strong> district is very well situated in south-east Toulouse, found between Joliment and the Terrasse district on the hill, on the right bank of the Canal du Midi<\/strong>. It\u2019s a residential area that has a calm and tranquil atmosphere<\/strong>. It\u2019s equally one of the most sought after districts in Toulouse. The large, old houses and villas built between the wars are very popular<\/strong>, as are the more modern apartment buildings found there. The area is also home to some renowned schools in the city<\/strong>. It is also really well served by public transport, like the Toulouse metro system.

Blagnac<\/h3>\n

Situated a few kilometres to the west of Toulouse in its suburbs, Blagnac <\/strong>is the town which is home to the Airbus headquarters and the Aeroscopia museum<\/strong>. Toulouse is known as one of the world leaders in the aeronautics industry<\/strong> with many factories and offices for the Airbus group being in Blagnac. This town is also home to the Toulouse-Blagnac airport<\/strong>. Blagnac represents a good place to live if you are a professional moving to Toulouse, especially if you work in the aeronautics sector<\/strong>.
