Cityscoot

Cityscoot is a service which offers motorised scooters for rent. These electric silent scooters are better for the environment than cars, and reduce noise and air pollution.

You don’t need a subscription, as it operates on a pay as you go system. The scooters are available 7 days a week from 7am until midnight. There are no docking stations, as Cityscoot is responsible for collecting and charging the scooters overnight. The scooters have a maximum speed of 45km/h.
There are currently 1500 scooters available across Paris, Neuilly sur Seine, Levallois-Perret and Issy les Moulineaux.

Here’s how it works:

1. Download the app to find and book a scooter near you.
2. A special code is sent to your phone which allows you to unlock the scooter, so you don’t need a key.
3. When you’re done with the scooter, you can park it anywhere. There are no docking station like the velib system.

As Cityscoot uses motorised scooters, there are some regulations. You have to be over 18 to rent the scooters and anyone born after 1988 will need to have a driving licence. Helmets are provided for safety, and there are also single use hygiene caps available. Insurance is covered in the rental price, leaving you to rent a scooter care free.

Renting a Cityscoot scooter costs €0.28 per minute (including tax and insurance). You can buy packs of minutes in advance which works out to be cheaper (€0.20 per minute). This is a good option if you intend on using the scooter for a long period of time.
