Trips around Paris: Thoiry Safari Zoo
Are you looking to go on a nice day out with your family and fancy going somewhere other than Disneyland? Then why not try a trip to Thoiry? It’s home to the magnificent Château de Thoiry and its gardens, as well as the Thoiry Safari Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in Europe.
About the Thoiry zoo
Located in the Yvelines, around 50 km west of Paris, the zoo covers 150 hectares and houses 81 different species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
You can go on safari in your own car and drive through the glass tunnels surrounded by lions, where you can also discover rare species such as the Siberian tiger, the snow leopard and the Komodo dragon.
A trip to Thoiry is a great idea for a fun day out with the kids! Make sure to save some time to explore the beautiful Château de Thoiry, which dates back to the 16th century and is lavishly decorated with paintings, furniture and tapestries.
